ABOUT US
Who We Are
San Gabriel Mountains Heritage Association is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission it is to provide support for environmental education, interpretive and heritage programs on the Angeles National Forest.
Where We Are
We presently operate in two locations:
- Mt. Baldy Visitor Center in Baldy Village north of Claremont, California
- San Gabriel Canyon Environnmental Education Center on Highway 39 north of Azusa, California
What We Do
- Encourage stewardship of the Angeles National Forest by all people who visit or care about it by offering interpretive nature programs
- Train volunteers and docents for visitor center and classroom aides as well as assisting USFS staff in their other duties
- Apply for grants to support staff salaries, repairing of facilities, purchase of classroom supplies and daily operation of Mt. Baldy Environmental Education and Visitor Center and San Gabriel Canyon Environmental Education programs
- Seek funding for renovation and development of museums, educational, and interpretive centers forestwide
